SNGPL Recommences Installation Of New Gas Connections

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) has officially declared the revival of new gas connection installations, as outlined in the notification titled ‘Provision of gas connections on RLNG basis in privately developed housing schemes.’ The gas utility management has issued instructions to its relevant staff to resume the provision of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG)-based gas connections. This resumption is based on the pending lists generated through IT systems in private housing societies where the RLNG network has been established and commissioned. Importantly, these installations will proceed after recovering 100 percent of the costs from the respective developers.

The scope of this policy extends to new phases, extensions, or blocks within existing housing societies commissioned on an RLNG basis, aligning with the policies set forth by the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

The notification emphasizes that RLNG connections will exclusively be granted to housing societies, phases, or blocks that have not yet received system gas connections. It underscores the continuation of the moratorium on system gas domestic connections, signaling that no processing of such connections should take place.

As the resumption of new connections takes effect, concurrent efforts are underway for network installations in private housing schemes. The approval from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) encompasses the laying of networks in private housing societies, forming part of the proposal submitted to the Secretary Petroleum. RLNG-based connections will be facilitated on an individual meter basis, adhering to the relevant terms and conditions.

In response to this development, the top management of SNGPL has directed the relevant departments to expediently arrange and allocate essential resources, including meters and service line materials. The requirements for RLNG-based connections mirror those established for system gas connections.

The decision to resume domestic gas connections stems from the recent deliberations of the Apex Committee of SIFC. Earlier this month, the committee granted approval, in principle, for the processing of RLNG-based connections to private housing societies, marking a positive step forward in addressing the energy needs within these communities.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
