Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, has acquired Saturn, a popular social calendar app tailored for high school and college students. Though the financial details remain undisclosed, the deal will bring nearly 30 Saturn employees into Snap’s workforce.
Saturn will continue to operate as a standalone app, but Snap plans to integrate its scheduling features into Snapchat in what it calls “innovative ways.” Launched in 2018, Saturn helps students organize school timetables while enabling real-time social interactions—letting users share class schedules, sports events, and club meetings to better coordinate with friends.

Snap highlighted that Saturn is already widely used across U.S. high schools, supporting 80% of them. The acquisition aligns with Snapchat’s broader strategy of bridging digital connections with real-world interactions, a key focus as it competes in the crowded social media space.
This move is Snap’s latest effort to enhance its Gen Z appeal, following investments in augmented reality, messaging, and app integrations. Saturn had previously raised $44 million in 2021 from investors like General Catalyst, Insight Partners, and Coatue, with backing from high-profile names such as Jeff Bezos’ Bezos Expeditions, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, and actors Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary.
Snap has not yet revealed a timeline for when Saturn’s features will be integrated into Snapchat. The deal underscores Snapchat’s push to remain a central hub for young users by blending social networking with practical daily tools.
