The Sindh government has officially implemented a new minimum wage of Rs40,000 per month for unskilled workers across the province. This change, which took effect on July 1, 2025, aims to improve the living standards of workers amid growing inflation.
Shahid Thahim, the Provincial Minister for Labour, confirmed the announcement on Wednesday. He explained that the revised wage structure will apply to all industrial and commercial establishments, both registered and unregistered, operating in Sindh.
Under the new wage framework, the minimum monthly wage for semi-skilled workers will be Rs41,380, while skilled workers will earn Rs49,628. Highly skilled workers will receive a monthly wage of Rs51,745. Additionally, the minimum hourly wage for all categories of workers has been set at Rs192.
Thahim highlighted that this wage increase is a crucial step toward safeguarding the rights of labourers. The government has emphasized that these changes will help workers cope with the rising cost of living, providing fair compensation for their hard work.
The new wage rates apply to both private and public sector establishments across Sindh. Employers have been instructed to comply with the updated pay structure, ensuring that all workers are compensated fairly based on their skills and experience.
This wage revision marks a significant move in Sindh’s ongoing efforts to improve workers’ welfare and address economic challenges. The government is committed to ensuring that all workers, regardless of their skill level, receive a fair wage that reflects their contribution to the workforce.
