In a key meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the provincial government has decided to take immediate action regarding the fitness and registration of all vehicles. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the new measures during a press conference on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of road safety and regulation.
Memon highlighted that all heavy and small vehicles, including motorcycles, must possess a valid fitness certificate to operate on the roads. “Vehicles without a fitness certificate will not be allowed on the roads,” he stated, adding that the priority will be heavy vehicles, which pose a significant safety risk if not properly maintained.

In a related move, the Water Board has introduced a barcode system for all registered water tankers, ensuring that only vehicles meeting fitness standards can operate from authorized hydrants. Vehicle owners have been given a 30-day grace period to comply with the new rules and obtain fitness certificates.
The new regulations also extend to vehicles entering Sindh from other provinces. Fitness certificates issued by Punjab, Balochistan, or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will not be considered valid in Sindh, requiring vehicles to obtain certification from Sindh authorities. Additionally, showroom owners have been barred from delivering unregistered vehicles, with new cars now required to be registered before leaving the premises.
To ensure compliance, Memon reiterated that any individual purchasing multiple cars for investment purposes must transport them using a trailer or car carrier. These steps underline the Sindh government’s commitment to enhancing road safety and vehicle regulation across the province.
