A renewed wave of grief and anger has swept through fans of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala after unidentified assailants fired at his statue in Sawant Kheda village, Dabwali, Sirsa district.
Described by his family as “an attack on his soul,” the incident has sparked public outrage and political condemnation. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility, issuing threats to those who continue to honor Moosewala’s legacy.
Charan Kaur Speaks Out
In an emotional Instagram post, Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, broke her silence, writing in Punjabi:
“My son’s enemies won’t let him rest in peace… This is an assault on his memory and a deep wound to my heart.”
She described her son as more than just a singer — calling him a voice of the people — and vowed justice, saying, “Our silence isn’t defeat. These criminals will face their end.”
Statue Damaged, Threats Issued
The statue, installed in 2023 by JJP leader Digvijay Chautala, sustained partial damage. On July 29, Chautala reportedly received a video message from an international number showing gunfire at the statue and a threatening message:
“After Sidhu Moosewala, his sympathizers are next.”
A case has been registered at Dabwali police station, and investigations are underway.
Bishnoi Gang Justifies Attack
Gang members, including Goldie Dhillon and Arzu Bishnoi, admitted to the attack via social media. They accused politicians like Chautala and Gagan Khokhari of misleading the public by glorifying Moosewala, arguing that only freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh or fallen soldiers deserve such memorials.
