Pakistan Super League (PSL) new franchise Sialkot Stallionz has revealed its first set of retained players ahead of the PSL 11 player auction. The announcement locks in four key players as part of the franchise’s early core.
Mohammad Nawaz has been retained in the Platinum category for Rs. 61.6 million. Salman Mirza will stay in the Diamond category with a deal worth Rs. 39.2 million. Ahmed Daniyal is retained in the Gold category for Rs. 22.4 million. Saad Masood, in the Emerging category, will earn Rs. 8.4 million.
Franchises for PSL 11 have a total budget of Rs. 450 million for squad building. With these four retentions, Sialkot Stallionz have committed Rs. 131.6 million, leaving the rest of the budget for the upcoming auction on February 11.
The announcement follows the franchise’s major signing of former Australia captain Steve Smith as a direct signing. Smith brings significant T20 experience, having played in leagues like the BBL, The Hundred, IPL, BPL, and CPL.
The franchise has also strengthened its coaching staff. On January 29, former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Tim Paine was appointed as head coach. Paine has represented Australia in 35 Tests and 35 ODIs and has previously captained the national Test team.
Sialkot Stallionz are owned by OZ Developers, led by Hamza Majeed. The franchise rights were secured during the PSL expansion auction on January 8, with a winning bid of Rs. 1.85 billion.
