Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto presided over a two-member panel that heard the issue regarding Gill’s motion to throw out three complaints that had been brought against him in Karachi for making disparaging remarks about national institutions.

Police representatives informed the court during the hearing that the magistrates will get the report about the designation of three cases as C-class. The PTI leader said in the plea that cases had been filed against him in the city’s Sarjani Town, Brigade, and Rizvia police stations. He also claimed that a complaint pertaining to his statement had already been filed in Lahore’s Manga Mandi police station.

The cases filed in Karachi should therefore be deemed invalid. The Balochistan High Court (BHC) issued an order in December 2022 to invalidate the first information report (FIR) that had been filed against Gill in the province’s Killa Abdullah area.

The judge made the observation that several cases cannot be brought against an accused in a single case and allegation when issuing the order. Furthermore, after the court denied Gill’s request for exemption from personal attendance, a warrant for his arrest with the possibility of bail was issued last month in the case of inciting sedition in state institutions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
