On Thursday, Shaheen Shah Afridi, the newly-appointed captain of Pakistan’s T20I team, pledged to uphold team spirit. In a post on X, he expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board and fans for their trust and support. Emphasizing the significance of unity, Shaheen stated, “Our success lies in unity, trust, and relentless effort. We are not just a team; we are a brotherhood, a family. Together, we rise!”
The announcement of Shaheen Shah Afridi as captain came after Babar Azam stepped down from captaincy in all formats on Wednesday following the World Cup disappointment.

Babar Azam, in a statement on X, reminisced about receiving the call from PCB in 2019 and shared the highs and lows experienced over the past four years. Expressing gratitude to the fans, he acknowledged their unwavering support during the journey.

Babar Azam revealed, “Reaching the number 1 spot in the white-ball format was a result of the collective efforts of players, coaches, and management.” However, he announced his decision to step down as captain, describing it as a difficult but timely call.
