Shahid Afridi Denies Involvement in Shaheen's Captaincy
Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi strongly denied any involvement in discussions or efforts to lobby for the appointment of Shaheen Shah Afridi as the T20 captain on Thursday. Addressing speculations about his alleged interference in preventing Shaheen from becoming the captain, Afridi clarified his position in an exclusive statement.

“I want to make it clear that I never discussed or lobbied for Shaheen to be the captain. I am not engaged in such matters. It’s not my concern, and I don’t endorse it,” Afridi emphasized during an interview’ program, Zor Ka Jor.

Rumors circulated after Shaheen Afridi was named the T20 captain, prompting Afridi to address the situation and dispel any misconceptions. Afridi explained that he had shared his opinion on captaincy during a conversation on the program when Zaka Ashraf asked for his viewpoint.

“I expressed that Babar should remain the captain, and I suggested keeping Shaheen away from the captaincy. It’s a natural progression; this is how captaincy unfolds,” Afridi clarified, shedding light on his stance in the discussion.

Afridi acknowledged that his close relationship with Shaheen might have led to speculation about his support or influence but firmly stated, “I swear that I have no interest in such matters, and I do not approve of them.”

In conclusion, Afridi extended his best wishes to the newly appointed Test captain, Shan Masood, and the T20 captain, Shaheen Afridi.
