Shafqat Mahmood Retires from Politics

Former Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has announced his retirement from politics after a distinguished 34-year career. He plans to focus on writing and teaching in his retirement.

In his statement, Mahmood emphasized that his decision to leave politics was not due to external pressures or plans to join another party. Instead, it was a personal choice influenced by the natural course of time and age.

Reflecting on his political journey, Mahmood recounted his diverse roles, including his service in the Senate, National Assembly, and various ministerial positions. He expressed pride in his contributions, particularly during his tenure as education minister, where he introduced a uniform curriculum and managed the education sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mahmood thanked PTI Chairman Imran Khan, his constituency, and the party for their support. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had and affirmed his commitment to continue serving through his future endeavors in writing, teaching, and media.
