Seaview Remains Open As Karachi Enforces Strict NYE Safety Measures

Despite strict restrictions imposed across Karachi ahead of New Year’s Eve, the city’s most popular recreational spot, Seaview beach, will remain open to the public, authorities confirmed, allowing residents to welcome the new year along the coastline under tight security arrangements.

City officials have enforced Section 144 from December 31 to January 1, banning aerial firing, fireworks, pillion riding, and the display of weapons to prevent injuries and maintain public order. These measures follow repeated incidents in previous years where reckless celebrations led to casualties and damage. However, Seaview has been exempted from closure, acknowledging its importance as a central gathering point for families and young people on New Year’s Eve.

To ensure safety, police have announced robust security measures for the Seaview area. More than 2,400 police officers and personnel have been deployed, including intelligence staff, to monitor the celebrations and respond swiftly to any untoward situation. According to police officials, six dedicated police platoons will be stationed at Seaview and surrounding localities to maintain law and order throughout the night. Authorities have made it clear that hooliganism, aerial firing, or any form of disorder will not be tolerated.

Alongside security arrangements, Karachi Traffic Police have rolled out a comprehensive traffic management plan to handle the expected rush. Several roads leading to Seaview will operate under one-way systems, while alternative routes have been designated to minimize congestion and allow smooth movement for residents of nearby areas.

As excitement builds for the night, many citizens are also following global celebrations online, including the widely viewed New Year’s Eve 2025–2026 countdown, which has drawn attention through festive digital displays and timelines.

Authorities have urged the public to celebrate responsibly, cooperate with law enforcement, and adhere to safety instructions. Officials stressed that while Seaview beach remains open on New Year’s Eve, strict enforcement will remain in place to ensure Karachi welcomes the new year peacefully and without incident.
