Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa expressed disappointment with the withdrawal of the petition seeking to annul the February 8 elections. The CJP instructed authorities to locate the petitioner, Brigadier (Retired) Ali Khan, and ensure his presence before the Supreme Court during the upcoming hearing on February 21.
A three-member bench, led by CJP Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali, convened to address the plea. However, the petitioner failed to appear before the court, prompting the issuance of a notice to Brigadier (Retired) Ali Khan through the defense ministry. The hearing was postponed until February 21.

The court expressed concern over the petitioner’s identification as a former brigadier and noted that attempts to contact him were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off. The court emphasized its intolerance of the potential misuse of the court for publicity. It also pointed out that the media had reported on the plea before its submission to the court on February 12.
Due to the inability to deliver the notice to the petitioner’s provided address and contact number, the court directed authorities to contact Ali through the relevant station house officer.5344
