[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In Riyadh, the Saudi Arabian government has implemented a restriction prohibiting individuals from performing more than one Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan. This measure aims to alleviate overcrowding at Islam’s holiest site, the Grand Mosque in Mecca, during the peak season of Umrah, which coincides with Ramadan. With millions of Muslims expected to visit the kingdom for Umrah during this period, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has emphasized the importance of adhering to this restriction.
The ministry has clarified that permits for performing Umrah during Ramadan can be obtained through the Nusuk app. However, individuals attempting to obtain a permit for a second Umrah during Ramadan will receive a message indicating that permit issuance has failed. This message explains that repeating Umrah during Ramadan is not permitted to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage and to facilitate crowd management.

During Ramadan, Muslims from around the world travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and engage in religious activities. Unlike Hajj, which has specific dates, Umrah can be performed at any time of the year. To accommodate the expected influx of worshippers, Saudi authorities have implemented various measures to facilitate the smooth conduct of rituals and mitigate the risk of overcrowding and incidents.
These measures include allocating specific entry and exit gates for pilgrims at mosques to prevent overcrowding. Following the conclusion of the Umrah season, preparations will begin for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, scheduled to commence in June. The Saudi government is anticipating approximately 2 million pilgrims for this year’s Hajj season.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
