Sara Tendulkar, the daughter of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, has expressed apprehensions regarding the misuse of technology, specifically drawing attention to the proliferation of deepfake photos and counterfeit accounts on X (formerly Twitter).
In an official statement posted on Instagram, Sara conveyed her disappointment at the distortion of reality caused by manipulated images circulating across social media platforms.
The 24-year-old underscored the potential negative consequences arising from the inappropriate application of technology, emphasizing the paramount importance of truth and authenticity in the digital realm. “While social media provides a wonderful platform for sharing our joys, sorrows, and daily activities, the misuse of technology is disconcerting as it compromises the truth and authenticity of online content,” she articulated.

Sara disclosed encountering deepfake photos of herself that were “significantly divergent from reality.” Deepfake technology involves the utilization of artificial intelligence to create highly convincing fake videos or images, often making it challenging to differentiate between authentic and manipulated content.
Addressing the issue of fraudulent accounts on X impersonating her, the cricket legend’s daughter stated, “Several accounts on X have evidently been established with the purpose of impersonating me and misleading people. I do not maintain an account on X, and I urge X to investigate such accounts promptly and suspend them,” Sara asserted, calling on the social media platform to take swift action against these deceptive accounts.
“Entertainment should never compromise the truth. Let us promote communication founded on trust and reality,” she concluded, underscoring the necessity for responsible online conduct.
