Kemi, a female camel who had her leg brutally severed by a farmer in Sanghar district, Sindh, has shown notable recovery. The Animal Shelter Home caring for Kemi reported that she has managed to stand on her three remaining legs for the first time since the incident. This improvement is attributed to ongoing massage and physical therapy, as well as daily treatment of her injured leg.

The attack occurred in Mund Jamrao village, where a landlord allegedly mutilated Kemi as punishment for scavenging for fodder. Kemi’s owner, Soomer Khan, has expressed his shock and confusion over the incident, emphasizing that he held no personal grudges.

An FIR was lodged under sections 429 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah intervened to ensure Kemi received an artificial leg and was moved to Karachi for advanced treatment.

On July 9, six individuals—Darya Khan Shar, Jaffer Butt, Abid Shar, Abdul Shakoor Shar, Gul Baig Lashari, and Rustam Shar—were granted bail by the Additional Sessions Judge, with each releasing on surety bonds of Rs 200,000. The hearing was adjourned to July 12. The SSP Sanghar confirmed that two of the suspects, Abdul Shakoor Shar and Abid Shar, have confessed to the crime during the investigation.
