Sanaullah requests that CJP pay attention to audio clips that allegedly feature Parvez Elahi.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]On Thursday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah urged Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial to take notice of audio clips in which PML-Q leader Parvez Elahi is allegedly heard ordering cases to be set before a SC judge who is now sitting.

Two purported audio tapes of Elahi from earlier in the day circulated on social media, in which the former chief minister of Punjab is heard directing two men to schedule particular cases before a particular justice on the Supreme Court.

The two men were not given complete names by Elahi, but reports indicate that one of them is a senior member of the Supreme Court Bar Association. The alleged first audio features a man identified as Elahi urging “Joja sahab” that the “Muhammad Khan case” should be assigned to an apex court judge.

In response, the individual known only as Joja states that “he will go to Islamabad today.” “He said today that [the case] would be sent to Islamabad. We’ll try in the subsequent step, the man continues. Do your best to finish it, Elahi is alleged to have said.

The PML-Q leader allegedly continues by claiming that the judge was “extremely brazen,” and the individual known as Joja apparently concurs. Elahi allegedly informs a different man in the second alleged audio clip that a certain case needs to be scheduled for a hearing before the SC judge.

The second man then asks if the complaint has been filed, to which Elahi replies in the yes and advises contacting Joja for more information. “I’ll ask Joja Sahab to tell me. I mentioned yesterday that it wasn’t prepared until yesterday. The other man reportedly says to Elahi, “I will check.

“the task is completed correctly. Elahi allegedly continues, “You do it,” to which the latter answers that he will. Moreover, Elahi informs the man that “no one has to be told,” to which the former responds

The interior minister mentioned the Arshad Malik video leak incident when discussing the alleged leaks at a news briefing in Islamabad. Arshad Malik was a former judge on the accountability court. In the video, Malik said that he had been “blackmailed and pressured” into convicting the former prime minister Pakistan order to please PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

“Arshad Malik described how he was forced to render a decision. He identified those who called him by name and what they said. Notwithstanding his mention of the current chief justice, nothing was done. The minister claimed that similar audios had previously surfaced and that no action was taken in response. As a result, the minister claimed that Elahi was now “managing the country’s highest court.”

The interior minister asked the CJP to take note of the case and said he had given the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) the job of looking into it and consulting with the law ministry. “A case is put out against Parvez Elahi, prima facie. After detaining him, it should be registered and the [truth of this matter] established.

“The tape should be subjected to forensic examination, and if it is truly his voice, both the other person and Joja Sahab will be exposed. If the tape is confirmed to be authentic, this matter should be examined, a case should be filed against them, and they should be questioned. In order to maintain the respect of the nation’s courts, he advised that if the situation worsened, it should be brought before the CJP or a judicial committee.
