Samsung Boosts Chip Output After Record Memory Sales

Samsung’s memory chip business hit a record high, prompting the tech giant Samsung Electronics to ramp up production of its most advanced components.

In the third quarter of 2025, memory chip revenue soared to 26.7 trillion won, up from 22.3 trillion won a year earlier. Operating profit for the semiconductor division alone reached 7 trillion won. The rise in memory chip demand is being fuelled by rapid growth in artificial-intelligence infrastructure, according to industry reports.

Samsung says it will massively boost output of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, including HBM3E and the upcoming HBM4 generation. The company already supplies HBM3E chips and is preparing HBM4 samples for key clients, aiming to meet surging demand for memory chips used in AI and data centres.

At the same time, Samsung’s smartphone and consumer-electronics arms are also being strengthened. Recent product activities, such as the unveiling of a bold new tri-fold phone beyond the chip story, highlight how Samsung is aligning its device business with its chip ambitions. For example, the company’s latest foldable device rollout shows its hardware ecosystem remains a centerpiece alongside memory-chip momentum. The link below offers a deeper look at Samsung’s foldable strategy:

Analysts say the memory chips boom may become an extended cycle, especially as AI infrastructure investment accelerates globally. But supply constraints could persist: Samsung itself warned that even with planned capacity expansion, customer demand may outstrip supply.

For consumers and investors alike, the implications are clear: Samsung is leveraging its leadership in memory chips to anchor its future growth, making “memory chips” a strategic keyword in its evolving narrative.
