Saim Ayub's Heroic Fifty Leads Guyana Amazon Warriors Clinch CPL 2023 Title

In pursuit of a modest target of 95 runs, the southpaw exhibited an unbeaten 52 off 41 deliveries against the Trinbago Knight Riders, successfully achieving the required total within 14 overs.

While Keacy Carty contributed 38 runs for the Trinbago Knight Riders, the remainder of their batting lineup struggled, with only two players managing to reach double figures.

Dwaine Pretorius emerged as the standout performer for the Amazon Warriors, claiming four wickets and earning the Player of the Final award for his bowling prowess.

This victory marked the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ sixth appearance in the competition’s final, having previously lost the first five, but finally clinching the championship this time around.

Throughout the 11th season, the Amazon Warriors displayed phenomenal consistency, securing eight wins out of ten matches in the round-robin stage and finishing at the top of the points table.

Shai Hope and Saim Ayub emerged as the key contributors for the Warriors, concluding the season as the top run-scorers, both amassing over 400 runs.

Shai Hope amassed an impressive 481 runs at an average of 53.44, while Saim Ayub compiled 478 runs at an average of 43.45, which included half-centuries in 13 matches.

Additionally, wicket-keeper Azam Khan showcased a noteworthy performance during the season, contributing 224 runs, including a crucial fifty during a critical juncture in the campaign.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
