Saba Qamar Files Rs. 100 Million Defamation Suit Against Journalist

Popular Pakistani actor Saba Qamar has filed a Rs. 100 million defamation case against local journalist Naeem Hanif for allegedly making false and defamatory remarks about her.

The Besharam star announced the legal action on November 4 through her Instagram account. She shared photos of the legal notice sent by her lawyers, stating that she would not tolerate baseless allegations or character attacks.

According to the legal documents, the journalist made sexist and defamatory comments about Saba Qamar in a recent podcast. The remarks allegedly targeted her personal character and undermined her professional achievements. The actor’s legal team argued that such statements were intended to damage her public image and reputation in the entertainment industry.

The notice demands a public apology, removal of the defamatory content, and Rs. 100 million in damages. It also warns that legal proceedings will begin if these demands are not met within seven days.

In her Instagram post, Saba Qamar explained that she had taken this step to set an example. “Today, I’ve taken legal action against a journalist who spread false and baseless claims about me,” she wrote.

She further encouraged her followers and fellow artists to speak up against defamation and disrespect. “No one has the right to make false accusations just for attention. Don’t stay silent — call out such behavior and hold people accountable,” she said.

The actor concluded her message by emphasizing the importance of truth and resilience. “Let’s bring change by speaking the truth and standing strong,” she added.
