Saad bin Munawar Becomes First Pakistani to Conquer Mount Everest via Northern Face

Pakistani mountaineer Saad bin Munawar has made history by becoming the first Pakistani to summit Mount Everest from its challenging northern face, according to his expedition organizers. This monumental feat adds to Pakistan’s growing legacy in high-altitude climbing, following the recent achievements of Sirbaz Khan and Naila Kiani.

Standing at 8,848 meters, Mount Everest is the world’s tallest peak. Unlike the popular southern route through Nepal, Munawar’s ascent took place via the more arduous northern route from Tibet, as part of a nine-member team under the Everest North Expedition led by Imagine Nepal.

The expedition team also included climbers Justin Moore Walker, Dawa Gyalje Sherpa, Ang Mingma Sherpa, Sonam Tashi Sherpa, Ngima Dorjee Sherpa, Lakpa Tenzing Sherpa, Dawa Kami Sherpa, and Thupten Topchen Sherpa.

Saad Munawar, already a respected figure in Pakistan’s mountaineering and adventure circles, is known for his previous milestone — becoming the first Pakistani to summit Mt. Aconcagua, the highest peak outside of Asia. He is also an author who actively promotes adventure sports in the country.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan lauded Munawar’s achievement, calling it a significant moment for the nation’s mountaineering community and a source of inspiration for future generations of climbers.

In other mountaineering news, Naila Kiani recently reached the summit of Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world, becoming the first Pakistani woman to climb 12 of the 14 peaks above 8,000 meters. She now stands on the brink of joining an elite group of just 17 women worldwide who have conquered all 14 eight-thousanders.

These remarkable accomplishments reflect Pakistan’s rising prominence in global mountaineering and serve as a testament to the country’s resilient and adventurous spirit.
