Russian Passenger Makes Bomb Threat On Plane

A Russian man caused chaos on a domestic flight by threatening to detonate the plane when he was refused alcohol. Andrei Sidyakin, a 39-year-old hockey player from the Russian Hockey League’s Monetka team in Yekaterinburg, created disturbances on the flight while persistently requesting vodka from flight attendants.

Despite warnings from the staff, Sidyakin escalated the situation by claiming he had an explosive device and even attempted to open the plane’s door. Consequently, the flight attendants had to search for any signs of a bomb or weapon for the rest of the journey. Surprisingly, the flight was not rerouted during this incident.

Upon reaching Moscow, security officers from Sheremetyevo Airport and police officers boarded the plane for additional searches. Although Sidyakin was not detained, he was barred from traveling to Ural and instructed to find an alternative means of transportation.

This incident contrasts sharply with a January flight from Russia to India, which was diverted and delayed for several hours due to a bomb threat. A chartered flight from Moscow to Goa, carrying 244 people, was rerouted to Jamnagar airport in India after air traffic control in Goa received an email warning of a bomb threat. This led to an extensive search and a 15-hour delay before the flight could resume its journey.
