On Sunday, Russia claimed progress in eastern Ukraine as Kyiv reported deadly air attacks and called for increased retaliatory strikes inside Russia. Russia’s military announced it had captured the village of Novohrodivka, located about 20 kilometers from the key logistics hub of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This follows significant territorial gains for Russia in August.
In a related development, Russian drones breached the airspace of NATO members Romania and Latvia. Romania reported that a drone targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine entered its airspace, while Latvia reported a drone crash in its eastern part. These incidents have prompted calls for a robust NATO response, with Ukrainian officials urging for the downing of such drones.
