Rohit Sharma Sets New T20 Milestone, Surpassing Babar Azam's Record

In a significant achievement, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has surpassed Pakistan’s Babar Azam to become the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals, accumulating 4,222 runs in 150 innings compared to Babar’s 4,145 runs in 116 innings. 

Sharma’s record-breaking feat follows India’s impressive victory over England by 68 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final, securing their place in the final against South Africa in Barbados on Saturday.

Earlier, Sharma surpassed Babar’s record of 48 wins, extending India’s second-longest winning streak in T20Is to 11 matches. Under Sharma’s captaincy, India secured their 49th win in T20Is, marking him as the most successful captain in this format and setting a new global benchmark.

In the semi-final match, India showcased a dominant performance. Led by Sharma, the batting lineup set a challenging target for England. The bowlers then executed a well-planned strategy, delivering standout performances that dismantled the English batting order, solidifying India’s place in the final showdown.
