Report Unveils Pakistani Billionaires Own Billions In Dubai Property

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Pakistanis collectively possess properties valued at approximately $11 billion (Rs. 30 trillion) in Dubai, as revealed by the explosive report “Dubai Unlocked” based on leaked property data.

“Dubai Unlocked” is an international investigation into real estate ownership in Dubai, sourcing property records from various data leaks, primarily from the Dubai Land Department and publicly owned utility companies. This data offers comprehensive insights into hundreds of thousands of Dubai properties, including ownership details, predominantly from 2020 and 2022.

The Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS), a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization specializing in research on international crime and conflict, obtained the data. Subsequently, it was shared with Norwegian financial outlet E24 and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which coordinated a collaborative investigative effort involving numerous media outlets worldwide.

According to the leaked data, approximately 17,000 Pakistanis, including prominent figures such as politicians, businessmen, and retired generals, possess 23,000 residential properties in Dubai.

Notable individuals listed in the leaks include President Asif Ali Zardari’s three children, Hussain Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s wife, Sharjeel Memon and his family members, Senator Faisal Vawda, four MNAs, and several MPAs from the Sindh and Balochistan assemblies.

The report also indicates that Indians top the list of foreign property owners in Dubai, with around 29,700 owners and 35,000 properties, followed by Pakistanis, United Kingdom nationals, and Saudi nationals.

It’s important to note that inclusion in the leaked data does not automatically imply involvement in financial crime or tax evasion. Several individuals approached for comment on their properties stated that they had been declared to tax authorities.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
