RDA Closes Down Unauthorized Building in Bahria Town

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Friday sealed an illegally constructed building in Bahria Town Phase VIII and launched legal proceedings against the developers.

An FIR was also filed at Rawat police station against Bahria Town CEO Ali Riaz, the property owner, and the contractor for violating building regulations. Officials stated that the action was taken under the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2021, as the construction had begun without the necessary approvals or no-objection certificates (NOCs).

RDA spokesperson confirmed that Director General Kinza Murtaza had directed the Land Use and Building Control Wing to take strict measures against encroachments and illegal commercial or residential activities. A comprehensive survey has also been ordered to assess fees, commercialization charges, and complementary maps to help regularize unapproved structures.

In a separate operation, the RDA Land Directorate visited University Town Housing Scheme to install signboards on mortgage plots and transferred deed sites, including public amenities like schools, mosques, graveyards, and other facilities, aiming to ensure transparency and prevent unauthorized use. DG Murtaza reaffirmed that strict monitoring will continue to enforce compliance and safeguard public interest.
