A rare and powerful tornado struck the town of Ermont, about 20 kilometers north-east of Paris, on Monday evening, leaving one person dead and several others injured. The storm took residents by surprise as strong winds tore through the area, damaging homes and construction sites.

Authorities confirmed that a 23-year-old construction worker was killed when three cranes collapsed at a nearby building site. Four people suffered serious injuries, while several others were treated for minor wounds. Emergency services responded quickly, sealing off the affected area and launching rescue operations to ensure no one was trapped under the debris.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos, with rooftops ripped apart, vehicles overturned, and debris flying through the air. The tornado also caused widespread power outages and blocked several roads due to fallen structures. Local firefighters and police worked through the night to clear the area and restore safety.

Officials described the tornado as an event of “rare intensity” for the Paris region. Tornadoes of this strength are highly uncommon in northern France, making the incident both shocking and concerning for meteorologists. Weather experts are now studying data to determine the tornado’s classification and the wind speeds involved.
