Popular YouTuber and social media figure Rajab Butt lost Rs300,000 in cash when a group of lawyers allegedly assaulted him inside the City Court premises in Karachi on Monday, his counsel claimed. The shocking courtroom violence has sparked widespread debate over legal conduct and security at judicial complexes.
According to a First Information Report (FIR) lodged at the City Court Police Station, the incident took place after Butt appeared before an Additional District and Sessions Judge for a bail hearing in a controversial remarks case. Butt’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, claimed that 15 to 20 lawyers attacked his client, injuring him and forcibly taking a bag containing Rs300,000 from him. Although the bag was later returned, the cash was missing, the complaint states.
In the aftermath of the chaotic assault at Karachi court, videos circulated on social media showing Butt with a bleeding mouth and torn clothes while being escorted away from the scene. Fellow influencer TikToker Nadeem Mubarak, known as Nani Wala, was also allegedly assaulted during the confrontation.
Lawyers named as prime suspects in the FIR include Advocate Riaz Ali Solangi and Advocate Abdul Fatah, with sections ranging from assault to robbery and criminal intimidation invoked against them. The court, meanwhile, extended Butt’s interim bail until January 13, 2026, and adjourned further proceedings to that date.
As reactions pour in from legal circles and online communities, the episode has raised uncomfortable questions about safety, professionalism, and the rule of law within judicial spaces, especially when Rs300,000 in cash goes missing amid alleged courtroom violence.
