Rain and Snowfall Forecast Across Northern Pakistan as Cold Spell Continues

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted scattered rain and snowfall across several regions of the country today, as a cold front brings precipitation to upper parts of Pakistan. While most regions will experience dry weather with partly cloudy skies, areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, northeast Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to witness intermittent rain and snowfall.

In Islamabad, strong winds, thunderstorms, and intermittent rain are expected throughout the day. The PMD has warned that the capital city could experience occasional bursts of thunder and lightning alongside periods of rain.

Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts, including Swat, Chitral, Malakand, Peshawar, and Abbottabad, are set to experience similar conditions, with rain and snowfall in mountainous areas. Cold winds and storms will also affect these regions, heightening the impact of the current weather system.

In Punjab, districts like Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Sialkot will see cold weather accompanied by rain and hailstorms, with hill stations such as Murree and Galyat receiving snowfall. Lahore’s temperature is predicted to range from 14°C to 23°C, with dry weather expected to return tomorrow, but another spell of rain could follow on March 2.

Balochistan’s weather will also see intermittent rain and snow, especially in the Quetta and Ziarat regions. In contrast, Sindh’s weather will mostly remain dry, though Karachi may see light rain or drizzle in the outskirts.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also be affected by the system, with heavy rainfall and snowfall likely in the mountainous regions, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
