The Punjab government has announced a major expansion of Sahulat Bazaars across the province. The initiative aims to provide relief to citizens facing rising inflation and high food prices.
Officials confirmed that new Sahulat Bazaars will be set up in 27 cities. These markets will start operating from July 1. The launch will coincide with the beginning of the new fiscal year.
The government said the project is designed to make essential goods more affordable. It focuses on fruits, vegetables, and daily-use items at controlled prices.
Authorities stated that prices in these Sahulat Bazaars will be significantly lower than the open market. Goods will be available at up to 40 percent cheaper rates. They will also be 18 percent lower than deputy commissioner notified prices.
In addition to permanent markets, the government will also introduce mobile units. Thirteen “Sahulat on the Go” mobile markets will be launched in different districts.
These mobile Sahulat Bazaars will help deliver subsidized goods directly to local areas. They will operate in cities where access to fixed markets is limited.
The mobile markets will run in Lahore, Jhelum, Bhakkar, Rawalpindi, Kasur, and Faisalabad. Officials said this step will improve accessibility for low-income communities.
New permanent Sahulat Bazaars will be established in several districts. These include Bhakkar, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Mandi Bahauddin.
Other cities in the plan are Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh. Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Sialkot, Gujrat, and Sargodha are also included.
Officials said deputy commissioners have been directed to finalize locations. They must complete all preparations by June 30.
The Punjab government also confirmed that funding for Sahulat Bazaars will be included in the 2026–27 provincial budget. This ensures long-term continuation of the project.
Authorities believe these markets will help control inflation pressure on citizens. They also expect improved price stability in local food markets.
The initiative is part of broader government efforts to support households during economic challenges. Officials said the Sahulat Bazaars program will expand further if public response remains strong.
