Punjab Govt Initiates Massive Flood Rescue Operation

Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab has launched its largest rescue and relief operation in 38 years to support flood victims. Hospitals have been placed on high alert, and staff leaves canceled to deal with the crisis.

Floods from the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers have devastated 769 villages, affecting over 601,000 people. To provide aid, 263 relief camps and 161 medical camps have been set up, offering food, shelter, and treatment. Essential supplies are being delivered to heavily affected districts, including Sialkot, Pasrur, and Sambrial, while major evacuation drives continue in Kasur, Nankana, Chiniot, and Wazirabad.

The Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, PDMA, police, and local administration are working together in relief efforts, including the evacuation of livestock in rural areas. Along the Chenab River alone, more than 150,000 people across 333 villages have been impacted. Similar devastation has been reported along the Ravi and Sutlej rivers, where hundreds of villages and thousands of residents remain displaced.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz commended the joint efforts of the Army and rescue teams, vowing that rehabilitation of every affected family is her top mission, with continued support until all victims are resettled.
