In a positive change for prisoners, Punjab jails have updated their menu to offer better-quality food. Inspector General (IG) Jails Mian Farooq Nazir revealed that chicken will now be served seven times a week, with dishes like qorma, pulao, and karahi featured in the revised menu. This update aims to ensure that inmates receive between 2800 and 3000 calories daily.

To enhance the flavor of curry gravies, the amounts of onion, ginger, and tomato have been increased by 25 percent. Additionally, kasuri fenugreek has been added to further improve the taste. Previously, chicken was served six times a week. The new menu, designed with expert advice, is intended to meet the necessary caloric requirements, Nazir mentioned.
