Punjab Imposes Section 144 Again Amid Ongoing Security Concerns

The Punjab Home Department has extended Section 144 across the province for seven more days due to heightened security concerns, keeping the restrictions in place until Saturday, November 22. Public gatherings of four or more people, rallies, protests, sit-ins, and processions remain banned.

The display of weapons and use of loudspeakers—except for Azan and Friday sermons—are also prohibited, along with the publication or distribution of inflammatory, sectarian, or hateful material. Authorities said the measures aim to protect lives and property and reduce the risk of terrorist attacks. Exceptions apply to weddings, funerals, government duties, and court activities. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement.

MOBILE INTERNET SUSPENSION IN BALOCHISTAN: Mobile internet services in Balochistan have been extended for two more days until November 18 due to ongoing security concerns, according to Additional Chief Secretary Hamza Shafqat. The suspension, initially imposed on November 3 in most areas including Quetta, has disrupted communication, transport, and daily life. Schools in cantonment areas were temporarily closed, though others remain open. The measures follow recent attacks near Wana Cadet College and Islamabad’s district court. Authorities have asked residents to stay vigilant and cooperate with security personnel.
