Fines for Water Wastage
- Households washing cars at home will face a fine of Rs10,000.
- Illegal service stations operating without approval will be shut down immediately.
- Service stations without a water recycling system will be fined Rs100,000.
All service stations in Punjab must install water recycling systems by February 28. Additionally, the use of groundwater at construction sites and washing vehicles with oil has been prohibited.
The decision stems from Justice Shahid Karim’s orders during a hearing on petitions calling for stricter measures to combat smog in the province. Officials from WASA, the Environmental Department, and other agencies were present at the hearing.
