The Punjab Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education has initiated a major recruitment drive to address staffing shortages in public hospitals. A request has been submitted to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) to recruit 1,092 healthcare consultants across 45 specialties.
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique highlighted the drive’s goal to combat understaffing and improve patient care across Punjab. Key positions include 200 dental surgeons, 96 senior registrars in anesthesia, 95 in cardiology, and roles in surgery, gynecology, medicine, and pediatric specialties, among others.

Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood emphasized the impact of these hires, alongside the recent recruitment of 3,000 nurses, in strengthening Punjab’s healthcare infrastructure. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and reducing patient wait times across the province.
