Punjab Govt Green-Light Solar Setup For 50K Homes

The Punjab government has taken a significant step towards promoting sustainable energy practices by approving the installation of solar power systems in around 50,000 households across the province. This decision was made during a session in Lahore, where Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed the need to shift towards renewable energy sources to meet increasing electricity demands while reducing carbon emissions.

Chief Minister Nawaz instructed officials to conduct a thorough assessment to determine the feasibility and advantages of installing solar power systems in various households throughout Punjab. This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to advancing renewable energy and reducing dependence on traditional power sources.

Under the approved plan, households consuming up to 100 units of electricity will qualify for the solar system installations. Each system package will comprise two solar panels, batteries for energy storage, an inverter for converting solar energy into usable electricity, and necessary wiring for connectivity. These systems are designed to power essential appliances like fans, lights, and small motors, providing uninterrupted electricity for up to 16 hours with battery backup.

Chief Minister Nawaz emphasized the significance of empowering households with renewable energy solutions, citing benefits such as reduced electricity bills and environmental conservation. She highlighted solar energy’s potential to meet domestic energy needs and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding solar system installations to cover more households across Punjab.

This decision demonstrates Punjab’s proactive stance towards embracing clean energy technologies and fostering a sustainable future. By harnessing solar power, the government aims to alleviate pressure on conventional energy sources, promote energy self-sufficiency, and create a greener and more resilient Punjab.
