The Punjab government has reached a decision regarding whether to designate Wednesday as a public school holiday or not.

The interim Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has officially declared that Wednesday will continue to be a regular working day.

Previously, authorities in the province were deliberating on the possibility of instituting an additional weekly holiday due to the elevated levels of smog in Lahore. However, in light of the improved Air Quality Index (AQI), the government has opted against this course of action.

In a statement posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), CM Mohsin Naqvi conveyed that he conducted a significant meeting with his cabinet members. He announced, “In light of the improved Air Quality Index, Wednesday will remain a typical workday.”

Furthermore, Naqvi emphasized that the Secretary of Transport, district administration, and the Police are actively addressing all sources of air pollution. He concluded by saying, “We are maintaining a vigilant stance and taking proactive measures to control the Air Quality Index.”

Additionally, factories have been sternly cautioned against exceeding the prescribed limits for smoke emissions and tire burning.

Furthermore, Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to take action against those responsible for burning crop residue.

In order to ensure the public’s access to high-quality, low-emission fuels, Mohsin Naqvi has issued stringent measures against the sale of substandard fuel.

Furthermore, the construction industry has received guidelines aimed at reducing smog levels. They are required to cover sand and gravel and continually dampen construction sites.
