Punjab Government Allocates Rs2bn For CCD Vehicles And New Offices

The Punjab government has released Rs2 billion to strengthen the Counter Terrorism Department (CCD) through new vehicles and infrastructure development.

According to officials, the first phase of funding will focus on the purchase of CCD vehicles, including bulletproof double-cabin trucks, armored carriers, and high-roof vans. These vehicles will be deployed in sensitive districts to enhance counter-terrorism operations.

In the second phase, similar CCD vehicles will be provided to “B category” districts. Additional budget allocations are expected to ensure wider coverage across Punjab. Officials stressed that modern transport is vital for quick and safe responses in high-risk areas.

Alongside vehicle procurement, the Punjab government has also started surveys for the construction of CCD offices and police stations. Reports are being prepared for new buildings in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Multan.

The CCD has formally requested 40 offices, 38 police stations, and six residential complexes to expand its presence. Police sources estimate the total construction cost at around Rs11 billion.

Authorities say the new facilities will improve coordination and provide secure working environments for CCD personnel. The addition of specialized CCD vehicles and upgraded infrastructure is expected to strengthen overall law enforcement capacity in the province.

Security experts believe the move shows the government’s commitment to countering terrorism through modern resources. They added that enhanced mobility, combined with new offices, will help police respond more efficiently to security threats.

The Punjab government emphasized that these measures are aimed at safeguarding citizens and ensuring that law enforcement has the tools required to meet evolving challenges.
