Punjab Food Authority Seizes 27,600 KG of Fungus-Contaminated Corn

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) took significant action on Wednesday by disposing of 27,600 kg of fungus-infected corn and over 120 kg of chemicals found in a warehouse belonging to a well-known brand near Makuana Bypass. The warehouse owner was also fined Rs 200,000 for the violations.

According to official sources, this operation was prompted by the discovery of the fungus-infected corn, which was intended for the production of pasta, corn flour, macaroni, and other food items. It was noted that there were no records of food manufacturing, and the warehouse was infested with insects. Despite the lack of proper hygiene and documentation, the products were being marketed in attractive packaging.

The sources emphasized that there will be no leniency towards adulterators and forgers, as the PFA is committed to eradicating such elements from the food supply chain.
