The Punjab Home Department has enforced Section 144 in Rawalpindi and summoned Rangers for assistance.
A notification from the Punjab Home Department confirmed the imposition of Section 144 in Rawalpindi Division for two days, prohibiting political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, protests, and similar activities.

Additionally, a ban on carrying and displaying weapons has been imposed, excluding law enforcement personnel. The restrictions will be in place on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29, covering Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal districts.
Six Rangers companies will be deployed in Rawalpindi and Attock based on district administration recommendations, citing threats from armed miscreants. A letter has also been sent to the federal government requesting further assistance. PTI had earlier announced a protest in Rawalpindi on September 28.
