In response to the worsening air quality and smog in Lahore and across Punjab, the provincial government has ordered the closure of all primary schools up to the fifth standard for one week. The Punjab Environment Department issued a notification stating that schools will be closed from November 4 to November 9.
Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of protecting the health and safety of students, citing the severe environmental conditions. Lahore, which consistently ranks among the most polluted cities globally, has seen a sharp increase in air pollution levels, leading to significant health risks, particularly for children.
