The Punjab Home Department has officially imposed a ban on swimming and boating across the province under Section 144, in response to the ongoing heavy rainfall and rising flood threats.
As per the issued notification, swimming or bathing in dams, rivers, ponds, lakes, as well as in rainwater accumulated in streets, roads, or open public areas, is strictly prohibited.
Additionally, boating in water bodies like dams, rivers, canals, ponds, and lakes is not allowed unless prior permission is obtained from the authorities.
These preventive restrictions will remain in effect until August 30, aiming to avoid any loss of life due to dangerous water levels and unpredictable weather.
The Home Department emphasized that the ban has been enforced to safeguard the public amid hazardous flood conditions and to ensure safety in high-risk zones during the monsoon season.
