Winter Chill Prompts Punjab To Change School Timings

Punjab has officially announced new school timings for winter, adjusting schedules for both public and private institutions across the province. The decision was made to prioritize students’ safety and comfort amid the dropping temperatures and early morning fog that mark the winter season each year.

According to the Punjab School Education Department’s notification, schools will now start at 8:30 AM instead of 7:30 AM. These winter school timings in Punjab will come into effect from October 16 and continue until the end of the season, after which the regular schedule will resume.

The department has also advised schools operating in double shifts to adjust their second session accordingly to avoid overlaps. Teachers and administrative staff have been instructed to ensure punctuality despite the revised hours, maintaining the academic flow and discipline.

Officials emphasized that the Punjab winter school timings aim to safeguard children from exposure to cold and fog during early morning commutes. The change has been welcomed by parents, many of whom believe the new timing will allow students more rest and reduce health issues related to cold weather.

This announcement also aligns with the government’s wider focus on discipline and timeliness across all sectors. Recently, the Prime Minister directed departments to ensure strict adherence to office timings to enhance efficiency and accountability nationwide. The directive complements the education department’s initiative to synchronize institutional schedules with seasonal needs.

Education officials further stated that all schools must display the updated timings on notice boards and communicate them clearly to parents and students. They also urged institutions to maintain a warm and safe classroom environment by taking preventive measures against harsh weather conditions.

The updated Punjab school timings for winter underscore the government’s commitment to student welfare, striking a balance between academic consistency and health considerations during the colder months.
