Kacha Operation

The Sindh and Punjab Police have agreed to launch a joint operation against riverine dacoits operating in the border regions of Ghotki, Kashmore, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. This initiative includes a significant increase in the bounty for these criminals, now set at Rs10 million.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon revealed that Punjab’s IG Usman Anwar has reached out to coordinate efforts against the dacoits. Both provinces will collaborate on intelligence sharing and ground operations to disrupt these criminal networks. The operation is a response to recent violence, including a deadly attack in Machka that resulted in the deaths of 12 police officers.

The targeted gangs include Sher, Andhar, and Kosh, with additional groups led by Bux Ali Sher and Gudail Sher also involved. Police sources report that the dacoits have been exploiting the aftermath of recent rains, which have made access to their hideouts more challenging.

The dacoits have also taken police constable Ahmed Nawaz hostage, demanding a withdrawal of police forces from the riverine areas. An FIR has been filed against over 140 dacoits involved in the recent attacks, with charges including murder and anti-terrorism offences.

The Punjab Home Department has released the names and photographs of 20 notorious bandits, offering significant rewards for information leading to their capture.
