PTI's Interim President Hammad Azhar Steps Down from Party Position

Hammad Azhar Resigns as PTI Punjab Acting President Amid Allegations

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab’s Acting President, Hammad Azhar, resigned from his party position on Wednesday following allegations made by senior party leader Azam Swati.

Azhar announced that he was stepping down from all PTI leadership roles. In his statement, he addressed Swati’s claim that PTI founder Imran Khan was informed about Aliya Hamza facing obstruction in her work. When Khan asked who was responsible, Swati allegedly named Azhar.

Azhar clarified that upon directly asking Aliya Hamza if she had ever faced any hurdles from him, she expressed surprise at the allegation. He further stated that his administrative powers had already been distributed among four regional presidents in June last year.

Additionally, Azhar noted that the organization of his constituency had been managed without his input or approval. He revealed that he had previously submitted his resignation twice, but both times it was rejected. However, this time, he asserted that his decision was final.

“As a dedicated worker, I will continue to serve my leader in the future,” Azhar stated, emphasizing that his resignation was irreversible and that he would no longer seek any leadership roles within the party.
