The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning about an increase in fake messages posing as courier services that deceive users into entering verification codes.
These scams are designed to steal personal data and gain unauthorized access to digital accounts. PTA has urged the public not to share verification codes received through SMS or messaging platforms.
The authority emphasized that genuine courier companies never ask customers to enter codes to receive parcels.
Reaffirming its dedication to consumer protection against online fraud, the PTA advised citizens to always confirm the legitimacy of such messages before responding. Banks have also reminded users not to disclose OTPs under any circumstances, even to someone claiming to be from a bank or the State Bank.
