The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a temporary suspension of mobile phone registration, affecting all users nationwide.
In an official notification, the PTA informed the public that mobile device registration will not be available for a brief period due to scheduled system maintenance. The authority clarified that this temporary halt is part of routine updates and improvements to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the registration system.
As per the announcement, the suspension follows the procedure outlined by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and will specifically impact mobile registration services on December 6 and 7. The PTA emphasized that this pause is necessary to maintain and upgrade the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), which handles the registration and verification of mobile devices in Pakistan.
The DIRBS system will go offline from 10:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, and is expected to remain unavailable until Sunday evening, December 7. During this time, users will not be able to register new devices, check the status of their existing registrations, or carry out any other mobile registration-related activities.
The PTA assured the public that this suspension is temporary and that all services will resume immediately after the maintenance work is completed. Users are advised to plan accordingly and complete any urgent mobile registration tasks before the suspension period begins.
The authority also reiterated that these maintenance activities are crucial for the proper functioning and security of the mobile registration system. The PTA urged mobile users to stay informed through official channels and avoid any inconvenience by following updates regarding the restoration of services.
Once the maintenance is concluded, normal registration processes will resume, allowing mobile users to continue registering their devices without any issues. This step reflects PTA’s commitment to providing reliable and secure telecommunication services across Pakistan.
