PSX Records Third-Largest Single-Day Surge, Crosses 114,000 Mark

The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s benchmark KSE-100 index surged by 3,370.63 points on Thursday, closing at a historic high of 114,180.50 points, reflecting a 2.95% rise from the previous close.

This over 3,300-point jump is the third-largest single-day gain in PSX’s history, with the top two gains also recorded earlier this year. The last third-highest single-day increase occurred recently on December 5, when the index rose by 3,134.63 points.

Topline Securities noted that 2024 accounts for nine of the top ten single-day gains. Trading volumes reached 1,469,558,531 shares, significantly higher than the previous day’s 1,080,023,483, with the total value of shares increasing to Rs. 67.278 billion from Rs. 47.139 billion.

Out of 463 companies traded, 298 posted gains, 132 recorded losses, and 33 remained unchanged, highlighting robust market activity during this session.
