PSL Broadcast Team Ordered to Exit Pakistan Amid Security Concerns

India-Pakistan Tensions Disrupt PSL 2025 Broadcast as Indian Crew Ordered to Exit Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan government has issued a 48-hour deadline for Indian nationals working with the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) broadcast crew to leave the country, citing escalating security and diplomatic concerns. The decision comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists and has heightened tensions between the two neighboring countries.

The directive affects over two dozen Indian technicians and production staff, including camera operators, engineers, broadcast specialists, and player-tracking experts. These professionals played a critical role in the live coverage of PSL 2025, which is being held across four major Pakistani cities.

PCB Scrambles to Maintain Broadcast Amid Crew Exit

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL broadcaster Trans-Asia are now urgently working to replace the departing crew to prevent disruptions in the tournament’s broadcast. PCB had initially appealed for exemptions, highlighting the crew’s valid sports visas, but the National Security Council (NSC) upheld the government’s decision.

The abrupt exit poses a challenge to broadcast quality and continuity as the league progresses through its crucial mid-season phase.

India Bans PSL 2025 Streaming Amid Diplomatic Fallout

Meanwhile, the Indian government has imposed a ban on live streaming of PSL 2025 within the country, leaving Indian fans with no official platform to follow the tournament. No alternative broadcast or streaming partner has been announced for Indian viewers so far.

This development follows other tit-for-tat measures between the two countries, including India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the closure of the Attari border, and Pakistan’s cancellation of visas for Indian nationals.

Stranded Crew and Movement Restrictions

At least 12 Indian crew members with UAE residency are reportedly stranded in Pakistan and have been advised to restrict their movement until departure. The PCB is coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure a safe and smooth exit for the affected individuals.

The ongoing diplomatic row has cast a shadow over the rest of PSL 2025, raising concerns about international participation and operational hurdles in future editions of the league.
