Private schools in Sindh banned from sale of soda and soft drink in glass bottles.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh (DIRPIS) banned the sale of limca and fizzy drinks at schools on Monday, following the tragic death of a young student last week who was injured after a soft drink bottle exploded.

Huzaifa, a fifth-grade student, was injured on February 24 at a private school in Malir’s Model Colony district after being sliced by a glass from a soft drink bottle; he eventually died as a result of his injuries.

“Principals/administrators of all privately-managed schools are ordered to guarantee that no Limca/Soda drink is allowed/kept in school premises for sale,” according to a notification issued by the department.

“These efforts are being taken to protect the children so that such a tragic tragedy does not occur in the future,” the notification stated, citing the “heartbreaking incident” of Huzaifa’s death as the reason.

It also advised all principals and administrators of privately operated schools in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benzirabad, and Larkana Regions not to keep or sell soft drinks and liquids in glass bottles.

Soft drinks in plastic bottles or cans, on the other hand, may be sold at schools.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
