President Alvi stated in a statement that we are commemorating Labour Day this year with the will to reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of labour and pay tribute to the brave and heroic fight that workers have waged for their fundamental rights.

The day serves as a reminder of employees’ struggles as well as a celebration of their contribution to economic growth, he continued.

The president stated, “We think that employees and employers are partners in the manufacturing process and that their cooperation is necessary for industrial efficiency, which eventually results in the socioeconomic improvement of the nation.
Despite their contribution to economic prosperity, he regretted that labourers still had to deal with a variety of problems, including hazardous working conditions, unfair labour laws, low pay, a lack of job security, sexual harassment of women at the workplace, lengthy workdays, and arbitrary dismissal.
The labour force is the foundation of our economy, so it is crucial to preserve their rights by strictly enforcing labour laws to deter unfair labour practises. Adding, President Alvi.
Government vowed to protect workers’ welfare: PM Shehbaz
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed in a separate statement that the administration was dedicated to making sure that the advantages of economic success translated into prosperity for all segments of the society, especially the labourers and employees.
He claimed that the day served as a reminder of the workers who gave their lives in the course of a never-ending fight for their rights.
“The day symbolised the sanctity and dignity of labour and at the same time, it was an acknowledgment of the importance of workers and labourers for being central to the economic growth of the country,” he continued.
He said that through providing better housing, educational possibilities, and health insurance for them and their families, the current administration was committed to improving workers’ living and working conditions as well as their welfare.
According to him, the government increased the minimum salary for employees from Rs17,500 to Rs25,000 per month in order to account for the high rates of inflation and other economic difficulties. In order to assure transparency and shorten wait times for aid to labourers and workers, he continued, the government also planned to create automated, integrated systems for institutions that provide for their welfare.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
